Data Scientist | Postdoc

As a data scientist at the Center for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) I look into multiomics integration for rare diseases. One of the challenges inherently related to rare diseases is the lack of sufficient statistical power to test our research hypotheses in order to advance patient care. In our projects we focus on data FAIRification, multiomics data integration, and analysis from patients across Europe in order to draw more relevant conclusions and therefore aid patient diagnosis and treatment.

PhD Researcher

In my PhD project I am looking into the double role of known mitotic complexes in ciliary mechanisms and the disease mechanism of various ciliopathies. For this purpose I've addressed a wide variety of techniques; from setting up BioID2-proximity labelling in our lab for interaction studies using mass spectrometry, to generating a new FIJI/R/python automated analysis pipeline for high throughput image analysis. - A targeted multi-proteomics approach generates a blueprint of the ciliary ubiquitinome. Research Trainee

N/A

Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS) | Sep 2016 - Oct 2016

Trainee

Trainee at the Biomolecular Chemistry Department of the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS) on the role of microRNAs in autoimmune diseases.

Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) | Apr 2016 - May 2016

Trainee

Trainee at ProtInhi Therapeutics in collaboration with Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) on using big data to find druggable targets for treatment of Dengue and Zika infections.

Radboudumc Nijmegen | Feb 2015 - Aug 2015

Research Trainee

This research provided insights into the role of transcription factor 4 (TCF4/ E2-2/ ITF-2) during cell fate determination in myelopoiesis.

University of Dundee | Sep 2013 - Feb 2014

Research Trainee at the Sir James Black Centre

Research Trainee at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (PPU) at the University of Dundee Sir James Black Centre. In this research we confirmed that the human Cullin 9 protein contains a functional RING in between RING (RBR) domain required for its E3 ligase activity in ubiquitination.

University of Oxford | Mar 2013 - Aug 2013

Research Trainee

Research trainee at the University of Oxford, Department of Biochemistry. The goal of this research was to determine the role of the gene now called TDR-1, with regard to hyperplasia development in C. elegans.

Nijmegen | Sep 2012 - Aug 2013

Student Lab Technician

Working as a technician for the second year students. This included teaching them how to work in the lab, preparing experiments and coaching the students around the lab.

Volunteer and Head Coordinator Doedorp

Every year we arrange Doedorp, an event for children aging 4-12 where they can spent a part of their summer holiday playing outside, discovering and working together with other kids. When I started as a volunteer I was mostly interested in arranging a fun and stress free time for children that can't go for summer holidays, due to various reasons regarding their home situation. After two years I've joined the organising committee and the event has grown a lot ever since, now including over 800 children from various backgrounds. During this event I am one of the two head coordinators and I coordinate all volunteers (veld- en vrijwilligerscoördinator). The rest of the year we start on organising the next event, e.g. arrange sponsors, permits. This function requires efficient communication, (on the spot and long term) problem solving, stimulating collaboration and innovating to keep the event interesting and safe for the growing amount of children that attend.
