Work.Life | May 2016 - Dec 2016

Membership Assistant

I worked as a Membership Assistant for London's best local co working space. The role was very busy and it was up to our team to make sure our members experience of co-working was the best possible. As a small team in a rapidly growing business we'd do everything from organising and hosting events to making sure people had coffee and photo copying. There was also the organisational aspect of arranging suppliers for various things the spaces needed. There is much more besides, but the main thing for me personally was that Work.Life was a wonderful place to work and I loved every minute of it!

Events | Jan 2016 - Dec 2016

Events Producer

I worked with General Assembly to organise and host events within the London tech sector. These events tended to be introductory classes for Web development and UX design. Mostly I was there to host the events, making sure the room was set up and things ran smoothly on the night. In addition to this I organised events and this would entail arranging speakers and doing the marketing on various tech/startup websites, Facebook and LinkedIn pages. When organising events I would also partner with companies to use their space for the event. Food and beer was also provided by these companies or third party sponsors. I really enjoyed doing this and would host these events in the evening after work. As someone that regularly attended such events it was a happy extension of my personal hobbies.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council | Sep 2013 - Sep 2015

Registration Centre Officer

I advised nurses and midwives from the UK and overseas, guiding them through initial and continued registrations within the UK’s largest regulatory body. I also provided general advice about different areas of the company and had a wide knowledge of what we did for our service users. I was familiar with the Fitness to Practise Process as well as being knowledgable about operations processes across the company. Whilst with the NMC I was recognised as employee of the month in April 2014 and held a halloween charity day and book sale that raised £520.00 for danceaid, a UK based charity. In May 2015 I moved to the NMC Legal office and worked in the legal records library. Daily duties centred on physical and electronic information management using HP Trim and other third party software applications. This included classification, storage and archiving of highly sensitive information. This contract was extended due to business need and good performance. Special project one: I was personally given a project to archive versions of NMC ‘Regulation in Practice’ web pages from 2012-2015 from the old website which was replaced with a new, more user friendly site. This included upwards of 700 pages of potentially crucial information that needed to be stored for potential use in future hearings. In June 2015 I gave a presentation on the User Experience (UX) of the new NMC website and information architecture to our IT Senior Leadership Team (SLT), having completed my own UX project at General Assembly between November 2014 and March 2015.

After returning to the UK I continued to work with AFB on their online language program.
