Geographic Information System Developer

• Joined FERN.Lab and participated in improving an automatic downloader pipeline for Sentinel-2 data on AWS. • Worked on Gitlab where I could practice git-based coding processes including branching, issues and merging requests. • Developed the package code using Python on Pycharm and applying automatic code testing via CI pipelines. • Identified missing features and bugs in Sentinel-2 imagery downloader and resolved them. • Documented the learning strategies, questions and project progress.

Remote Sensing Solutions Engineer Intern

The main target of the project I worked on was to monitor the progress of the reclamation plan in Toshka area, located in the South Valley in Aswan, Egypt. During the monitoring process, Planetscope satellite images in 4 different dates were used to apply AI techniques, remote sensing, and spatial analysis to extract agricultural pivots and all surface water bodies in the area. Main tasks: 1- Accessing and reviewing Planetscope imagery 2- Mosaicking images of each date 3- Starting the AI workflow from labeling data to the inferencing stage 4- Detecting the number of pivots in each date and calculating their area in Acres 5- Collecting training samples to train a classification model to extract planted areas and surface water bodies 6- Calculating area of planted regions in acres and in square km for surface water bodies 7- Assessing plant health in each date 8- Publishing mosaicked images of each date in addition to the analysis results to ArcGIS Online account 9- Creating an interactive dashboard on ArcGIS Online to visualize the data and showcase the statistics and results to the decision makers. 10- Developing a PowerPoint presentation for the project to visualize the final outcome to the executive board and stakeholders..
