The completed bachelor's degree in Italian Language, Literature and Culture is a humanities programme that provides academically-based understanding of the Italian-speaking world's linguistic, cultural, historical and social conditions, on a level that qualifies graduates for access to the master's programme or for employment in positions that entail text production, editing and translation, Italian-language consultancy, cultural analysis and communication, international relations in organisations and companies, and communication, especially intercultural communication and research. The programme provides graduates with an operational understanding of analytical and methodological approaches to linguistic, cultural, historical and social-science topics, as well as an overview of the main differences between language and culture in the Italian-speaking areas in contrast to Danish language and culture. The programme also has a practical dimension that enables bachelors to communicate complex problems, communicate with ease in Italian on all types of issues, translate between Italian and Danish, as well as analyse and process language issues. It also provides experience of researching topics related to the Italian-speaking world's history and culture, and of planning and structuring a project (including research, analysis and communication). The emphasis is on developing students' ability to reflect independently and methodologically on academic work. A completed bachelor's degree with basic subject in Italian language and culture qualifies the graduate for the master's programme in Italian Language and Culture. The programme also provides access to the master's programme in the Psychology of Language programme at the University of Copenhagen.
