My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Stone | Jul 2022 - Present

Research Economist & Data Specialist

My team applies causal inference methods to provide evidence that shapes our products and policies. We employ RCT strategies, Instrumental Variables, Regression Discontinuity Desing, and Difference-in-differences to help with pricing, retention, and accounts.

Universidade Católica de Brasília | Jan 2020 - Jul 2022

Professor

Professor at the departments of Economics and Public Policy. My attributions involve research, extension, supervision, and teaching. The recurrent courses I teach are Impact Evaluation (Ph.D. and Master's); Game Theory (Ph.D.); Research Methods II (Ph.D.): Time Series and Panel Data Methods (Master's); Corporate Finance 2 (Undergrad.); Monetary Economics (Undergrad.); and Public and Political Economics (Undergrad.).

International Labour Organization | Jan 2021 - Jun 2022

External Collaborator of the Research to Action Program

Awardee of the 2021 International Labour Organization "From Research to Action" grant to develop the project "Preventing forced labor: causal evidence from both government and non-governmental interventions in Brazil." The project applies difference-in-differences estimators to assess the impact of public and third sector interventions in curbing forced labor exploitation in Brazil.

CNI - Confederação Nacional da Indústria | Jan 2021 - May 2022

External Consultant

Consultancy to assess the impact of full-time schooling (FTS) on the criminal activity around public schools in São Paulo. I exploit Chaisemartin & D’HaultfŒuille (2020) and Callaway and Sant'Anna (2021) difference-in- differences estimators to assess the impact of FTS on geolocalized criminal activity around school areas. In doing so, I use data curated by the Department of Public Safety of São Paulo (SSP-SP).

The World Bank | Jan 2020 - Jul 2021

Short Term Consultant

Short-term Consultancy to estimate the impact of Brazil's National Full Time School Program on educational outcomes. I used the 2015-2019 School Censuses coupled with ENEM, SAEB, INSE, and other educational datasets to perform difference-in-difference and instrumental variables analyses.

Universidade Federal de Pernambuco | Jan 2019 - Jan 2020

Research Fellow

I provided short courses on Impact Evaluation and worked on judicial litigation datasets. The project developed into the work in progress “The Costs of Access to Justice: Evidence from the Universe of Labor Court Cases in Brazil” with Diogo Britto, François Gerard, Joanna Naritomi, and Breno Sampaio. It was the winner of the 9th Edition of the Modigliani Research Grant and EIEF Grant.

Università di Bologna | Jan 2015 - Mar 2019

PhD Candidate

N/A

Università di Bologna | Jan 2017 - Jan 2018

Teaching Assistant - Time-series Econometrics using R

Teaching through R scripts the computational implementation of forecasting, model selection, detection of spurious regressions, unit root tests for stationarity, cointegration tests, exponential smoothing, estimators based on the method of moments, and instrumental variables.

Università di Bologna | Jan 2017 - Jan 2018

Graduate Teaching Assistant - Microeconometrics using Stata

Teaching through Stata scripts the computational implementation of the detection of omitted variables bias, selection into treatment, and identification of causal effects.
