The BI Tech certificate provides professionals with an understanding of data analysis, visualization, and mining. I taught the first two courses, mostly through in-class courses, but also as an online course in 2017. The data analysis course focused on: - SQL (aggregations, joins & unions, embedded queries & with statements, and more) - introductory statistical analysis (z-scores, p-values, confidence intervals, and regression analysis) - forecasting (moving averages, exponential smoothing, X-11, trend projections, regression models) The data visualization course included: - fundamentals visualization (pattern familiarity, change blindness, pre- attentive visual attributes, Tufte's data-to-ink ratio, and the Schneiderman Mantra) - non-quantitative visualizations (system maps, relationship diagrams, hierarchies, multiple cause & fishbone diagrams) - quantitative visualizations (dot-plot, box-and-whisker, cycle plots, Pareto charts, table lens) - dashboarding (Tableau, PowerBI, and Excel)
