Project group: Smart Energy Systems Research Platform (SESP) SESP is a project in the AIKO-program related to the theme ”digitalization and innovation environment” Project title: ROBUST AND RELIABLE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SMART NOx SENSOR AND THE SPEEDGOAT/ENGINE CONTROL MODULE: A case study of Wärtsilä’s smart NOx sensor and W4L20 Diesel Engine. Project description: The project is based on a Wärtsilä Smart NOx sensor case study which investigates the possibility of replacing the existing wired CAN bus connection between the smart NOx sensor and the rapid control prototyping system Speedgoat/Engine Control Unit (ECU) with a wireless communication solution. Achievement: The working wireless-CAN prototype is currently installed on a Wärtsilä W4L20 diesel engine in Vaasa Energy Business Innovation Centre (VEBIC) in Vaasa, Finland. Technologies and Tools used: CAN Protocol, Wireless protocols, C/C++ programming, Arduino Programming, MATLAB, Additive Manufacturing (3D modeling and printing), etc.
