My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Vallen USA | Feb 2021 - Present

Business Intelligence Manager

I work with the current staff to teach each resource, Power BI, and to cleanse and prepare the data for the Power BI environment. My task is to make the data work for the Data Quality Department of Vallen, Inc. Most of the work involved working with the Safety Culture team on the abilities of their software and its shortcomings and building a data dashboard in Power Bi that the customers’ (LOB’s) resources could use once completed. I created data sets and an SQL Database for archiving purposes that allowed them to keep previous sections of data to be called upon at later dates in the data lake. Helping to build processes that solidify the work being done in the Azure data lake to ensure the data would be correct when the Power BI dashboard is being used for presenting it to the executive staff. • Act as a change agent and program manager driving the CFO Group's data-driven transformation. • Define, document, develop, test, implement, and support customizations in IFS 9 to enhance standard IFS functionality. Document changes to the system using Word, and Visio to ensure all new aspects were in place. • Develop and document business requirements for data integrations and API interfaces with IFS 10 to extend IFS’ functionality and to improve efficiency when conducting business with external customers and suppliers. • Develop and deliver end-user training both for the sake of determining how to best use IFS cloud as well as to help users execute agreed-upon processes from IFS 9 &10. • Own and maintain the finance data strategy and roadmap, taking lead in developing processes for intake, evaluation and prioritization of data and analytics demands of the program. • Develop and manage the finance data program's project plan in alignment with the data strategy and roadmap and other transformation initiatives both within and outside of finance. • Monitor the resourcing and progress of individual workstreams delivering on the data strategy and dependencies between them. • Further, the adoption of the Agile framework and related best practices within day-to-day management of the development activities and overall program planning. • Driving an overall cadence of communication between product owners, technologies and stakeholders on program coordination and execution. • Driving tracking and resolution of program risks, issues, actions and decisions and ongoing reporting around those to the stakeholders. • Monitor program financials and ensure transparency and timely risk and opportunity identification through reporting. • Driving the delivery of executive-level presentations and communications to keep finance and technology leadership, key stakeholders and governance bodies informed of the finance data program's scope, approach, benefits, status, risks, and opportunities. • Partner with business and technology leaders and SMEs to define, measure, and report on KPIs (key performance indicators) to measure operational performance and project success. • Collaborate with finance and technology leadership and SMEs to develop and execute change management plans. • Ability to build and optimize data sets, ‘big data’ data pipelines, and architectures. • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify. Opportunities for improvement and answer questions. • Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets. • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata.

Document changes were made to the system using Word and Visio to ensure all new aspects were in place. • Built Stored procedures and modified triggers and complex SQL queries to work in line with the changes being made to IFS and other areas of software on-site. • Perform data mapping using ETL pipelines for the eventual move to the NO SQL Data Lake on our Azure platform and our data warehouse within our On-Premise systems. • Oversaw third-party partners from Sweden and other IFS resources that consult assigned to do development work, training, or other services to ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective performance. • Developed and documented business requirements for data integrations and API interfaces with IFS to extend IFS’ functionality and to improve efficiency when conducting business with external customers and suppliers. • Developed and delivered end-user training to determine how to use IFS best and help users execute agreed-upon processes. • Built complex views to support Power BI and its visualization reports. In Power BI, I am responsible for enabling and maintaining a gateway to our Azure platform, where our virtual data warehouse exists, with dedicated pipelines to our on-premise data warehouse. I also have a Tableau environment that is being installed to support as an option the capabilities of having a server with cloud connections as well as a stand-alone server. • Oversee testing to reduce the risk associated with deployments to production. • Maintain the development backlog and progress against priorities. Meet with stakeholders to honor their opinions and values regarding the most prominent deliverables. • Ensured thorough and accurate documentation of configurations, how-to content, troubleshooting content, and training materials. • Ensuring that development was consistent with the company’s guiding principles—using native IFS functionality as much as possible, then extending IFS using standard IFS configuration tools—our last resort was to make code modifications only when necessary. • Assembled large, complex data sets that met non-functional and functional business requirements. • Identified, designed, and implemented internal process improvements, including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes. • Using Microsoft Azure and SQL technologies, I built the required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources. • Built analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline and provided actionable insight into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and customer acquisition. • Worked with stakeholders, including data, design, product, and executive teams, and assisted them with data-related technical issues. • Worked with stakeholders, including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams, to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues.

Owner / Operator

• Led systems testing efforts for a local magazine application that needed a qualified Sr.QA\Automations Engineer including planning and execution, in order to insure all changes to the application were applied in accordance with specified requirements that were created by the Magazine owners. • The tools used are HP’s Mercury Quality Center 9.2(QC), Ruby on Rails with the Cucumber and Watir plugins that allow me the ability to create test cases, test plans, and track defects because both teams did not have access to QC. Watir allows me create a seamless web application test environment from within the Ruby on Rails automation test development environment. Subversion is used to keep the versions available and separated properly. • Use of HP’s Mercury Quick Test Professional 9.5 (QTP). • Evaluate the application being used by our magazine and create test case documentation for the entire application or pieces of the application where necessary. • Most of the testing being performed is manual, and building a library of manual test cases for regression testing. • Documented the flow of the application to the look and feel of it as a working application from a usability standpoint without removing too many of the functions that the owners want. • Used Microsoft Excel to create Traceability Matrixes to allow the traceability of what was testable within the Test Plan that was given by the business. • Call meetings when needed to describe the defects that was not easily explained through email and to go over the outstanding defects that may or may not hurt the timeline of the project. • Developed processes that would need to be in place in order for the tools to be effective. • Evaluated several automation tools for them • HP Quality Center 9.2 • Open Source Automation & Reporting Tools on Linux servers • Liaised with the client to ensure that we are on schedule and where we are in the timeline as to not need to affect their bottom line for the project as a whole.
