Sector Lead

Managing a team of analysts, and responsible for reviewing detailed credit reports and models - Covering US-based HY names (private and public) for a multinational bank, and presenting the case to the governance committee. Mentoring the team as required and handling client management. - Also co-managed a project and prepared detailed credit risk analysis notes for one of the largest multilateral lenders in the world. The project received several accolades from the client and won the S&P Global Golden Ace Award - Led a team of six people in an on-site project in Sydney for a large Australian bank. The team had to understand the bank’s systems and processes, prepare credit assessment reports, and handle the appraisal from end-to-end. Covered several sectors and held discussions with Credit Officers and Relationship Managers to propose the rating. - Headed a team of 20+ senior buy-side analysts who support a major global Asset Management firm. The team is closely integrated with onshore analysts and participates in high-end work including investment thesis and thematic presentations - Part of the team that is developing an automated early warning system using financial and unconventional data. Responsible for developing the algorithm, dashboards and UI, as well as coordinating with the coding team - Winner of the R&R Breakthrough Initiative Award for building a report automation tool from scratch

Analytical responsibility for Moody’s coverage of Corporates in the Asia Pacific region (including India). The published reports included business and financial analysis, sector risk, and application of the relevant Moody’s methodology. The role also entailed managing a team of 5 analysts, client interaction and project management. - Involved in setting up and stabilizing the process. Was instrumental in drafting detailed report templates for the team and managed to stabilize the process in a short span of time. - Prepared high-quality reports that were finally published under Moody’s brand-name - Held discussions with Moody’s analysts to arrive at the rating and identify key rating drivers

Senior Analyst

As a Senior Analyst, I am responsible for ascertaining the credit quality of corporate bodies through a detailed analysis of the operating environment and financial statements, preparation of financial models, and conducting sensitivity analysis for stress case scenarios. The role involves interacting with the senior management of the rated entities and conducting site visits. Analysts are also responsible for making presentations to the Rating Committee and writing publicly available ICRA documents such as press releases, rating rationales and sector notes. I have analyzed companies at both ends of the spectrum – some of the largest Indian companies in infrastructure, healthcare and shipping, as well as emerging sectors like education and hybrid seeds. During my tenure, I have covered companies like Shipping Corporation of India, Madhucon Projects, Manipal Group (educational institutions and hospitals), Columbia Asia Hospitals, Tata Coffee, Vibha Agrotech and Soma Enterprise Ltd. Some of these involved complex financial modeling, such as toll roads and shipping. I was also involved in carrying out equity research for ICRA equity grading team, covering one of the largest electrical consumer durable players in India. As part of my job, I also lead a team of four analysts, being responsible for the quality of their reports and mentoring them as required.

Infosys BPO Ltd. | Feb 2005 - Oct 2007

Senior Associate

The key deliverable of the role was to analyze the credit quality of large, global entities, and presenting the same in a concise report for supporting lending decisions by Deutsche Bank’s credit team. I received a one month intensive training from Deutsche Bank’s global credit team for the same. The role entailed preparation of forecasting models for base-case and downside scenarios, providing industry outlook over the medium term, and determining the adequacy of the cash flows to meet debt commitments. I covered more than 60 global entities in the Oil & Gas and Metals & Mining industry, with secondary focus on Utilities. Companies such as Petrobras, Total, Occidental, POSCO, Sasol and Barrick Gold were part of this universe. I was awarded an “E+” rating for mentoring and managing a team of around seven junior analysts in the absence of the Industry Head, and achieving the required productivity targets. I also worked on various pilot projects meant for one of the largest private equity players in the world, and won accolades from the client for the same.

Assistant Manager

As a member of the company’s reinsurance team, I was singularly responsible for generating risk profile statistics and detailed portfolio & loss analysis. The role also involved underwriting of large risks where facultative support was required, and preparing reinsurance accounting statements on a monthly basis. I designed & implemented internal control procedures for facultative accounts, and also developed a tool in MS Office, to generate statistics for MIS and verify cessions to various treaties
