My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Microsoft | Mar 2021 - Present

Content Program Manager

By applying my 3 Rs; research, relevancy, and relationship, and by leveraging my process development experience, I brought order out of chaos and helped move projects forward. To start, I initiated processes to help the team navigate ambiguity and develop effective content strategies for a portfolio of Microsoft security and compliance products. Working collaboratively, I also led development of 8 major and 15 minor automation tools to reduce time, increase accuracy, monitor, update, help manage projects, and establish a standard for meeting deadlines. Here are a few highlights from this experience: • Improved workflow by creating technical solutions in Python and Power Automate: • Slashed content formatting time from 1 hour to 3 seconds • Reduced manual programming time from approximately 5 mins to 5 seconds. • Eliminated a 2-year ticket backlog in 3 months and increased content performance scores from 60% to 89%.

Head of Content Development, Core Curriculum

As someone who continuously looks for ways to improve processes, l used these skills to elevate product quality and completion rates to 50 – 100% above industry average. Doing so led the company to place among Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 List for 2 consecutive years. The relationship aspect wasn’t lost on me and when no one else saw the need, I sought out and applied key stakeholders’ perspectives to improve processes. Because I brought real world experience and formal education in human behavior, I applied what I knew to develop leadership strategies and stimulate professional growth. Check out these highlights: • Cut course development time 15% by developing software and process improvements that streamlined processes, tracked milestones, and eliminated unnecessary steps. - An automated communication workflow using Python and the GitHub API. - Heuristic evaluation using a Shiny (R programming) application for 19% process time reduction. • Netted 5 new products at $0 cost by reinventing global internship program. - Coaching, training, and leadership experience for mentors. - High levels of enthusiasm and buy in from interns. - Lasting relationships and new-talent development. • Drove 13% per month increase in custom recommendation solution usage by collaborating with commercial stakeholders to address key issues and led to creation of a new Curriculum Architect role. • Decreased support ticket response time 50% by synthesizing stakeholder interviews and surveys - Merged data into Asana project management tool to aid reporting and tracking. - Assigned quality analysts to debug, correct, and refine content. - Increased transparency and continuous improvement.

Data Science Content Developer

By applying my 3Rs and improving processes, I helped fuel an explosive +300% customer growth factor and personal best quality rating of 4.6/5 by collaborating to create market disrupting products. Using effective relationship management strategies, I developed tools and efficient processes to convert the work of topical SMEs into advanced, user-friendly courses. The work was challenging and there were numerous opportunities for improvement as I managed development and launch of 26 top-rated Python, R, SQL, and Google Sheets courses. By partnering with external SMEs and orchestrating sequential processes for efficiency, we exceeded expectations and met our deadlines. Here are some outcomes from this fast-paced role: From my colleagues: “Thank you, Becca, for Leading the Doc Charge!!!” “I just wanted to share my appreciation of [instructor-support.datacamp.com/ courses! I was looking add some articles today and so happy to see answers to several questions I’ve had throughout the creation process. Thanks!” Accomplishments: • Facilitated 22% monthly growth. • Developed quality processes that reduced production cycle and increased quality. • Slashed onboarding cycle time for SMEs 20%.

Temple University | Oct 2015 - Jun 2017

Postdoctoral Researcher

This work converted foundational knowledge into practical experience by building my analysis, testing, experiment design, and data gathering skill sets to assess neural mechanisms driving human movement through behavioral research including survey and observation. My contribution centered on integrating data and observations to produce results for real-world applications. Here are some key results: • Contributed to studies and co-authored key publications resulting from prototype development of mobility & balance-assessment for concussion screening using a mobile Android application. • Conducted between-subjects experiments by evaluating 60+ subjects in a lab setting using traditional balance equipment/ assessment against novel process using a mobile phone technology for accelerometry. • Designed and ran a virtual reality study measuring head proprioception in space that resulted in 2 presentations and 1 publication.

Liverpool John Moores University | Jan 2012 - Sep 2015

Doctoral Researcher

In this research role, I designed and ran 9 experiments to evaluate eye movement and motor behavior during visual, somatosensory, or cognitive perturbations. As a bonus, I applied training and project management principles to supervise thesis projects for 8 undergraduate sports science students and hone my supervisory and management skills. Here are a couple of key outcomes: • Recruited and assessed 100+ participants in a 3D (Vicon) motion capture lab using eye tracking, visual acuity tests, and surveys. • Created a novel protocol and MATLAB script for standing turns that resulted in 10+ presentations, 4+ publications, and is still in use today.

Liverpool John Moores University | Sep 2014 - Mar 2015

Teaching Support Officer

By lending my academic experience to help others and perfecting my training and presentation skills, I assisted with lab-based teaching activities for 2 undergraduate courses (5015 SPOSCI: Biomechanical Principles & 4013 SPOSCI: Human Movement Foundations) and managed learning for 30-60 sports science students.
