Rehabilitation/Vocational Rehabilitation in non-profit sector: The role of an employment coach is inherently rehabilitative, focusing on helping individuals gain the skills, confidence, and support needed to enter, succeed in, and maintain employment. This can involve direct coaching and supervision, skill-building, role modeling, navigation, job search strategies, workplace integration, and ongoing support. Licensed Collections Specialist (Commercial & Legal) As a Licensed Collections Specialist in Canada, with a pivotal role in the Commercial and Legal departments, I was responsible for the full lifecycle of debt recovery for business-to-business (B2B) accounts. This includes direct negotiation and resolution of commercial debts, as well as the preparation of crucial legal documentation and the enforcement of court judgments to maximize recovery for our clients. Key Responsibilities: Commercial Collections: Initiate and manage collections efforts for overdue commercial accounts through a variety of communication channels (phone, email, written correspondence. Negotiate and establish payment arrangements, settlements, and repayment plans with commercial debtors, adhering to strict compliance standards and internal policies. Conduct thorough investigations to locate debtors, verify account information, and assess financial capacity. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communication and collection activities. Provide exceptional service while upholding the highest ethical standards in all interactions. Legal Department Functions: Legal Document Drafting: Prepare and review a range of legal documents for court action, including but not limited to statements of claim, default judgments, affidavits, garnishment orders, and writs of enforcement, ensuring accuracy and adherence to provincial legal requirements. Judgment Enforcement: Strategize and execute the enforcement of court judgments, which may involve: Initiating wage garnishments and bank account seizures. Working with court bailiffs to seize and sell assets. Registering judgments against land titles where applicable. Conducting examinations in aid of execution to ascertain debtor's financial status. Litigation Support: Collaborate closely with legal counsel and external law firms on complex or escalated commercial debt files requiring litigation. Compliance: Ensure all collection and legal activities strictly comply with federal and provincial legislation governing debt collection agencies in Canada, including consumer protection acts and court rules. Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports on the status of legal files, judgment enforcement, and collection outcomes. Data Entry: Ensure all correspondence was documented electronically. Created profiles and cross referenced clients and reviewed their credit files via credit organizations such as Equifax and TransUnion. Qualifications: Valid provincial Collection Agency License (or ability to obtain). Proven experience in commercial debt collection. Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude for drafting legal documents and understanding legal processes related to debt enforcement. Familiarity with Canadian provincial laws and regulations governing debt collection and judgment enforcement (e.g., provincial civil procedure rules, collection agency acts). Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with a professional and assertive approach. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in legal documentation and financial reconciliation. Proficiency in collection software and standard office applications. Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively.
