My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Cigna | Aug 2022 - Jul 2023

Actuarial Lead Analyst

In my second rotational role, I am analyzing pharmacy trends for Cigna’s book of business to help understand past drivers and account for upcoming changes in the pharmacy world. This role requires both analytical skills to look into the data and communication skills to help tell the story of trend as different parts of the company look to make assumptions or reconcile results.

AEDP Actuarial Senior Analyst

Actuarial analyst on Medicare Part C Pricing Team. I priced the MidAtlantic and Northeast markets during a time of wide expansion for Cigna’s MA business. I priced DSNP, ISNP and CSNP plans on top of more traditional plans, and dealt with the complexities of plans that cross state lines. I was responsible for pricing plans for each internal pricing round, understand the key assumptions that drive change round over round, and communicate that to the finance and market teams so they can make decisions. In this role I used a lot of Excel and VBA to create outputs of pricing results and improve tools used by our matrix partners throughout bid season. Verbal communication was important, especially on pricing results calls, to be able to explain in simple terms what is driving different numbers and how decision makers should take that into account as they get closer to bid submission.

Cigna | May 2019 - Aug 2019

AEDP Intern

Summer 2019 Intern in Individual & Family Plans Pricing. I used mostly SAS and Excel to build a membership elasticity model. In this role I learned a lot about the metal tiers of ACA plans, the ACA risk transfer process, and how subsidies such as the APTC or CSR work. I also participated in a series of case studies and presentations throughout the summer on a wide range of healthcare topics.

Western & Southern Life | May 2018 - Aug 2018

Actuarial Intern

Summer 2018 Intern in Forecasting & Risk Analysis I helped build a model for structured settlements runout for a closed block of business to ensure we could project statutory and GAAP reserves during regulatory Cash Flow Testing. This model was in MG-ALFA and used inputs from Excel. I spent a lot of time building out cash flow sheets in excel and then ensuring the results when imported into ALFA were correct. At the end of the summer I gave a final presentation and to my knowledge this model was continued to be used after my internship ended.
