At Gecko Animation we deliver CGI animation and still images, visual effects work and digital assets for a variety of industries including television, advertising, digital and new media, and corporate communications. We've worked on television shows including Red Dwarf, and delivered animation and digital images for brands like the NSPCC, 2K Games, Dave, and Puma. My daily work involves delivering to deadlines and managing clients, designing, creating and working with assets as well as collaborating with and managing other artists and freelancers. I'm also frequently tasked with researching and implementing technical solutions to various issues arising from managing a 3D pipeline. This work takes the form of developing python scripts to automate tasks like managing large data sets or converting filetypes between applications, and learning new software packages within tight timeframes to ensure we can deliver what our client needs. In the course of working at Gecko, I have gained significant technical expertise, particularly with working with Blender, a 3D animation package. I've written a book on creating digital art with blender, titled Bender Master Class, published by No Starch Press (which has since been translated into Chinese). I have also spoken at conferences on the subject, including the Blender Conference in Amsterdam, and Campus Party at the 02 Arena in London.
