I wore two hats for MCAO. As an appellate attorney, I handled direct, responsive, and collateral appeals for the State. This involved successfully defending the State’s authority to prosecute crimes originating in foreign countries, and successfully obtaining appellate reversals of court policies and court judgments against the State. As a trial attorney, I participated in numerous investigations of homicides and crimes related to those murders. I litigated more than ten jury trials and prosecuted several hundred cases.

Assistant Attorney General

Represented the State of Arizona in all felony appeals in state appellate courts, and federal habeas corpus proceedings. Wrote the argument adopted by the Arizona Supreme Court refining the standard of review and several arguments adopted in published decisions. Presented CLE on recurring trial errors and teaching how to make good trial court records.
