Head of team

I am the head of the team "Scale development and documentation" at GESIS's Department of Survey Design and Methodology. My team of currently four postdoctoral researchers and three Ph.D. candidates hosts the Collection of Items and Scales (Zusammenstellung sozialwissenschaftlicher Items und Skalen; ZIS), an open-access repository for social-scientific measurement instruments. More than 270 measurement instruments are freely available from ZIS for researchers. My team and I offer methodological and statistical consulting services related to scale development and validation. We also conduct methodological research with a focus on the statistical modeling of multi-item scales, alongside substantive research focusing on the development of cognitive skills, personality traits, and motivation across the life span.

Senior Researcher

As a senior researcher, I was responsible for quantitative research in the realm of personality assessment and development, academic achievement, and career development. Having secured substantial third-party funding from top funding agencies (e.g., German Research Foundation) as a principal investigator, I conceived and coordinated two major research projects focusing on adults' competence development and lifelong learning.

Postdoctoral Fellow, International Pathways to Adulthood Programme

I was a postdoctoral fellow in the International Pathways to Adulthood Programme, funded by the Jacobs Foundation. This program brought together early-career postdocs with leading educational researchers from Europe, Australia, and the US with the aim of helping its members build a high-profile, interdisciplinary research agenda.

We worked for various major non- profit organizations such as Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (KAS) or the Foundation of the German Economy (sdw). Our work focused on political empowerment, helping youth to think clearly, take a stance, and make a difference.
