Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle | Jan 2020 - Aug 2021

Project manager

I was a research consultant for businesses and governments. I completed broad-scope research such as a technical and economic assesment of plastic recycling supply chains in Quebec, a feasibility study for implementing large- scale textile recyling operations in Canada, an optimization of C&D waste sorting plant operations, and a technical assesment of the compostability of food packagings in Canadian composting plants.

Gesterra | Apr 2017 - May 2019

Research coordinator

I set up collaborative R&D projects for Gesterra and other stakeholders in the waste management sector, including a project to develop a user-based marketing strategy for Gesterra's compost and agricultural products. I was the project manager for Gesterra's waste management facilities, and coordinated work on feasibility studies, planning, engineering and technical specifications. I was also in charge of environmental compliance for Gesterra's activities, which include a technical landfill, a water treatment plant and a windrow composting facility.

R&D Project Coordinator

Develop and integrate innovative solutions to divert residental, commercial and C&D materials from the landfill. A sample from our project portfolio: recovery and recycling of agricultural plastic waste, in partnership with CISA; integration of recycled paving materials in municipal infrastructure, in partnership with Ville de Quebec; densification and recycling of curbside expanded polystyrene, in partnership with RECYC-QUEBEC and Foodpackaging Institute; compost-derived specialty products. Characterization and valorization of post-consumer mixed plastics Developped quality control tools for recyclable plastic streams, by combining field and laboratory techniques. Developped lightweight concrete mixes with plastics that are harder to recycle. Analysed their performance as a function of plastic waste characteristics.
