Data Analyst, Intern

As an Intern at Statistics Canada, I quickly learned a new database coding language and used large financial data sets to code fixed capital stock into Canada's quarterly GDP statistics. Key Achievements: - Utilized Excel, SQL, and FAME to calculate fixed capital stock for quarterly GDP using large structured financial datasets (hundreds of thousands of rows) - Wrote ETL script for cleaning, loading, and analyzing data that saved 15+ hours of manual tasks per month - Wrangled data and creatively resolved gaps through coding and problem solving such as estimating amount spent on bridges in Quebec based on historical analysis and comparables when no data was available - Developed training manual explaining economic depreciation model used to code fixed capital stock in quarterly GDP
