Data Scientist II

Lead data collection and public reporting for the California residential heat pump market transformation initiative "Technology and Equipment for Clean Heating." Manage a team including colleagues and subcontractors engaged in designing a public reporting website and assessing energy savings, bill impacts, and GHG savings for thousands of California IOU customers who switch to heat pumps. Manage a cross-cutting data team building tools and processes for the California 2025 Title 24 Codes and Standards Enhancement ("CASE") Team. Set data-driven goals and guidelines for the CASE Team and help topic leads assess and compare energy savings potential of proposed building code changes.

Energy Solutions | Jan 2021 - Dec 2021

Policy Analyst II

Lead policy integration and data reporting for the Technology and Equipment for Clean Heating (TECH) Initiative, a California statewide residential heat pump market transformation program. Technical contributor to the Cross-cutting Codes and Standards Technical Support initiative, using data to improve prioritization and evaluation of energy efficiency codes and standards across the United States.

Clearway Energy Group | Jul 2019 - Dec 2020

Project Finance Analyst

Closed construction debt, tax equity, backleverage term debt, and cash equity financing facilities for a community solar fund comprising 19 projects in MA, IL, and NY Conducted a monthly financial rollup and projection for Clearway's >200 MW community solar development pipeline Led modeling for the closing of an equipment loan, securing financing for >140 MW of safe-harbor modules and 11 safe-harbor transformers

Energy Solutions | Aug 2018 - Jul 2019

Project Manager

Led TRC Improvement team, which improved evaluation and prioritization of energy efficiency standards. Contributed to a nearly 2x increase in the evaluated cost-effectiveness of the CA energy efficiency standards portfolio. Used tools such as learning curves, webscraping, and hedonic price modeling to show that the cost of many CA and national efficiency standards had decreased since their initial adoption. Assessed lifecycle cost (LCC) of all (20+) appliance efficiency standards adopted in CA 2016-2019. Piloted a whole-building LCC analysis of the 2019 Title 24 building efficiency standards

Stanford University | Sep 2017 - Jun 2018

Graduate Teaching Assistant

students explore practical applications of ethical principles in engineering practice, ranging from standard challenges in structural engineering to hypothetical issues arising in new fields like nanotechnology.

TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy | Jun 2017 - Aug 2017

Energy Impact Fellow

Conducted a research project to assess the market availability and energy savings potential of floating solar power in California. Synthesized qualitative and quantitative research gathered via interviews, literature review, and LCC analyses for two photovoltaic systems built using Aurora Solar software.

Gridium | Mar 2014 - Jul 2017

Energy Analyst

Analyzed electricity consumption data for a portfolio of 55 commercial and industrial buildings. Identified opportunities for savings via reduction of peak demand, elimination of superfluous off-hours consumption, preparation for Peak Day Pricing, and stabilization of baseload.

SunPower Corporation | Jun 2016 - Aug 2016

Materials Intern

Designed and executed experiments to measure the reliability of materials in shingled solar modules. Used measurement techniques including photovoltaic I-V curves, electroluminescence, 3D profilometry, and tensile testing to observe degradation in solder joints, conductive ribbons, and electrically conductive adhesives.

McGehee Group | Jun 2015 - Sep 2015

Research Assistant

Planned, executed, and documented experiments intended to improve the stability of solution-processed BHJ organic solar cells. Prepared thin films, evaporated metal contacts, ran solar simulations, and analyzed solar cell IV curves to measure free-radical-induced degradation over time. Wrote MATLAB program that filters, compiles, and displays data from a multi-solar- cell reliability tester.

Big Ass Fans | May 2013 - Sep 2015

Product Development Intern

Conducted front-end R&D for a rapidly growing manufacturing and solutions company specializing in air flow, lighting, and thermal comfort. Performed market research, designed blueprint, conducted product testing, and realized product concepts. Created patent-pending IP for a sleep fan system and collaborated with Nest, Bosch, major wearables manufacturers, and multinational grocery chains.

Stanford University | Sep 2014 - Jun 2015

Building Level Sustainability Program Intern

Compiled and analyzed campus-wide plug load electricity consumption data. Created reports tailored to individual building managers with advice on how to reduce plug load in their unique building. Assisted with installation of energy efficiency measures and technologies like timed power strips, communal refrigerators, and LEDs.

Vitousek Group | Jan 2014 - Jun 2014

Research Assistant
