Francisco Castro

Francis is a human-computer interaction and learning scientist completing his PhD at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His research area revolves around studying people’s interactions with various computing technologies and tools. He explores how users’ environments and contexts shape their actions and decisions around the tools they use in their workflows and practice.His PhD work in particular investigates how people learn to design and write programs by exploring the cognitive factors involved in computing and problem-solving, human interactions with tools and technology (e.g. IDEs, software, and languages), and the contexts in which they are learning (e.g. functional/OO and interactive environments).
