Cal Poly SLO Baseball | Sep 2021 - Apr 2024

College Baseball Analytics Manager

I worked mainly in collecting and analyzing data from a Trackman system. I wrote and implemented Python code to analyze swing and miss rates for each game’s hitters, and R code to analyze strike zone data and visualize through heat maps of strike zones for umpire scouting reports. I also utilized BATS software to collect and trim video from 4 field angles of our pitchers and hitters, and I traveled with the team to various locations around California to videotape and collect data. With all of this effort, I was a key component to the Mustang’s success in the 2024 baseball season, as the team is on its way to a Big West victory.

Mathematics Tutor and Assistant

I have tutored a wide array of Math courses, including (but not limited to) Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Methods of Proofs, and Statistics classes. In these tutoring sessions, I have worked to promote a better understanding of important Math concepts, and I have gained leadership and teaching skills through my work. I am also proud to have successfully helped a large majority of the students I tutored receive top grades in their classes. I have also worked as a Teacher’s Assistant, during which I graded a Mathematical Proofs course and a Linear Algebra course. This position taught me how to be analytical and look for mistakes in completed work.

Graduate Assistant

This was a summer internship where I completed Excel scouting reports for players on opposing teams by analyzing data collected through TruMedia, and I actively collected pitcher data during the games. I also traveled with the team around Southern California and assisted with data collection as well as setup and takedown of the field. Some alternate jobs I had throughout the summer was setting up the field for batting practice and games, as well as aiding in construction, electrical, landscaping, and attire projects. With great help from my efforts, the team was able to make it to the CCL Championship series, from which we took second place.

Summer Camp Counselor

During my time as a summer camp counselor, I was in charge of 30-60 kids every day and my job was to make sure they were safe, fed, and entertained. I assisted in planning daily activities such as games and arts activities, and I also aided in creating weekly lunch plans for the kids that had healthy components to them. Twice a week, I also led a group of 10-15 kids on field trips around Southern California, where I would always prioritize safety, and then be there to make sure the kids were having a good time. This role really taught me leadership skills as well as team-working skills, and I was also required to be CPR certified.

Customer Care Representative

I assisted with anything the store needed on any day, and became a leader in making sure these duties were completed well and on time. All of my responsibilities included aiding customers with questions or finding items, collecting the shopping carts from the parking lot, bagging customer groceries, sweeping the store, and receiving deliveries from trucks. During this position, I gained valuable customer service experience by always having a positive attitude while helping customers with anything they needed. I also learned how to collaborate with team members to coordinate efficient workflow and ensure optimal customer service and satisfaction.
