Data Science Career Track

550+ hours of hands-on curriculum, with 1:1 industry expert mentor oversight, and completion of 2 in-depth capstone projects. Mastering skills in Python, SQL, data analysis, data visualization, hypothesis testing, and machine learning. Project: Deep Learning: Natural Language Processing for Binary Classification of Tweets Developed custom functions for cleaning the Disaster Tweet Dataset shared on Kaggle and Data for Everyone which remove emojis, emoticons, punctuation and other textual features that are considered noise. Produced a custom stop word list using CountVectorizer and TF-IDF. Created word clouds to illustrate similarities between the two target classes and to justify excluding locations and keywords for tweets. Evaluated machine learning models and Word2Vector CNN for binary classification of tweets, with improvements from 61% to 99% in accuracy. Project: Machine Learning: Classification of Breast Cancer Tumours Developed machine learning models for the classification of the Wisconsin Diagnostic Dataset. Developed Hyperparameter tuning of models using GridSearchCV, and RandomSearchCV to improve false positive rates over false negative rates. Evaluated models using F1 scores, Matthew’s Correlation Coefficient, AUC- ROC, and further improved models using Bayesian Optimisation and by omitting features with less than 1% importance. Presented findings using Microsoft PowerPoint, Matplotlib, and Plotly.

Academic Partner

Designed and launched successful marketing programs for International Baccalaureate Higher Level Maths, resulting in 20% increase in peak season enrollments and a consistent 40% increase in revenue over two years. Produced presentations and teaching material on topics such as tree and cycle algorithms with undirected graphs, and hypothesis testing. These include Eulerian trails, Kruskal’s and Prim’s algorithms. Provided support and concept reinforcement lessons on mathematics, physics, thermodynamics, and statistics course for university students studying business and finance, maths, physics and mechanical engineering degree programs. Taught the use of evaluation methods such as central limit theorem, hypothesis testing, Chi Squared goodness of fit tests, transition matrices including the use of transition diagrams, regular Markov chains, initial state probability matrices including the application of eigenvectors and eigenvalues. Examples used include the travelling salesman problem to determine the Hamiltonian cycle of least weight in a weighted complete graph, the use of Bayes’ theorem by hand for a maximum of three events, and interpreting probability density functions.
