Engineering Manager - Construction

In addition to duties as a Development Coordinator, I transitioned to Construction Manager over Engineering, Stormwater and Franchise Utility inspectors, while conducting the following tasks: -Oversee all aspects of significant capital construction projects to include managing, coordinating, and administering projects from initial concept planning stages to procurement of construction, towards project closeout. Communicates directly with contractors and designers concerning project cost, staffing, and scheduling. Prepares project status reports and ensures that construction activities and materials adhere to contract specifications and design plans. -Prepare reports and provides periodic updates regarding the status of assigned capital construction projects for Engineering, Town Council, Town Management, and the general public. Conduct weekly construction progress meetings as necessary. -Create departamental standard operating procedures and policies, participate in interview panel for new hires and update job descriptions for field inspectors from within and other departments. -Conduct quarterly Franchise Utility meetings to maintain relationship with utility companies operating within City Limits, while providing updates on upcoming and/or present projects throughout the City. -Review Floodplain Development Permit applications to verify compliance against Minimum NFIP requirements state that communities should use the best available data in areas mapped as Zone A or Zone V on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) . Collect and review Elevation Certificates upon completion of construction to verify that minimum elevations have been constructed per plans. -Adminstrative rights to manage Flood Warning systems and trouble shoot any issues with data collection sensors. Understanding of hydrological and meteorological engineering principles, while gaining basic knowledge of remote data collection systems. -Experience with GIS mapping software and tools.

Development Construction Coordinator

As a Development Construction Coordinator, my main focus is to serve as a liason between private development contractors and engineers, and the City of Grand Prairie. In addition, provide feeback on Civil review for construction plans of intended projects to be constructed within City of Grand Prairie, manage private development projects from Pre-Construction meeting, during construction and until finalization and close out of projects, manage and maintain database of projects in construction, accepted and track validity of maintenance period. In addition, review building permits on behalf of Engineering department for proposed construction of underground utilities, paving, approaches, and sidewalks along City R.O.W. Upon closeout of a project, review Record Drawings to ensure accuracy against Inspector's as builts, review CAD drawing information for compatibility with GIS map services to incorporate Public infrastructure into City's asset list. -Administers project management by providing design input; reviewing plans; working with consultants on change orders. -Conduct reviews of private development projects to verify adherence and compliance in regards to City Standard Details for connections of underground utilities and paving onto public infrastructure. -Serve as project manager for construction phase of private development projects, including re-design, construction and project closeout for associated public scope of works involved in private development. -Facilitates plan approvals, review, manage and issue public works construction permit, schedule and conduct pre-construction meetings, and manage projects from start of construction until project close out; provides oversight for development related engineering permits. -During construction phase, review and process RFI, by means of research, develop, suggest and coordinate solutions to design and construction challenges involving interpretive, judgmental and evaluative skills.

CMET Staff Engineer

As CMET Staff Engineer and Project manager, my duty is to I research through construction documents (Civil, Structural, Architectural and MEP drawings, Project Manual) and become familiar with project specifications and requirements, and keep track of every test result conducted on a project. I began each project by analyzing the Project Geotechnical report, drawings and specifications to become familiar with project requirements and scope of work. During the lifespan of a project, I prepare cost estimates, based on Project Requirements and testing frequencies, develop a summary of relevant testing and inspection requirements for field technicians to perform testing at the proper frequencies required by the contract documents. At the end of the project, I review all testing results to ensure that all non-compliant items are resolved, and issue a Project Completion Letter.

Cost Estimator

At AIM-Metals I served as Cost estimator for aluminum and metal panels for building facades. My main task revolved preparing cost estimates based on project drawings, specs and related documents. Using Autocad 2D I computed and quantified area of panels in the project, and calculated production cost to deliver projects material. During the estimation stage I resolved any discrepancies, issues or constraints arise in a project based on Project's layout, available space and experience from third-party installers. As a cost estimator and Project Manager my duties were:: -Prepare proposals based on project drawings, specifications, and related documents as quick as needed to submit proposals. -Compute costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements and resolve any discrepancies from incomplete information from drawings. -Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information. -Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. -Prepare cost and bidding information as quick as needed to be submitted in time for our different projects. -Maintain communications with clients, tracking the status of every project bade by the company. -Prepare CAD instruction drawings to provide to installers for on-site panel assembly.

As Project engineer providing technical assistance for construction of tilt up concrete panels, and proposing optimal layout placement of panels and provide lifting operation schedule to set panels in place and super flat floors. Duties under my responsibility are: -Conduct floor survey yo determine FL and FF floor and determine category of flat floors, and survey super-flat floors to locate and seal cracks to meet Project Specifications for warehouse flooring systems. -Manage all RFI’s requested in assigned project. -Supervision of A/C unit installing and waterproofing application, ensuring procedures where follow as expected to comply with quality standards. -Keep log of workstaff hours (40-70 people) for paysheet purposes. -Material request duties in order to ensure constant supply of materials, so not a single task was delayed due to lack of supplies and materials. -Maintain communication with Client to report project's progress and achievements each week.

As field engineer in a high end and high quality project, my everyday tasks were as follow: -Conduct and supervise all work tasks performed by workers. -Explain blueprints to work staff and supervise fulfillment of scopes. -Supply control of materials and tools and performing buying duties in order to avoid shortness of supplies. -Supervising foam wall lining up, ensuring that measurements were as stated in blueprints. Mistake margin allowed was around 1/8". -Requesting shot-crete mix to cover EPS wall panels with concrete supplier. -Oversee that shotcrete finishes were as expected, with a plain finish and no holes and imperfection along the wall face. -Repair any discrepancy with blueprints measurements. -Elaborate pay sheet and execute payments to suppliers and work staff.
