My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory | Dec 2020 - Present

Sr. Process Control Specialist

Provide leadership and coaching in quality control, assurance, analytics and data management across multiple programs. Responsible for championing, developing and implementing a data strategy that drives a standard approach to data management for all system, manufacturing, engineering and quality data. Data sources include ERP data, PiWeb Quality data, operational data (PLC, sensor, OSI Pi Historian), flat files and TDMS high speed files. Worked across the functional areas to configure and deploy a quality database (PiWeb) containing master specifications, inspection results, nonconformance information and critical operational data. This data is imported into PiWeb automatically or manually input through user interfaces and will be used to drive insights that complement physics-based modeling.

Smart Manufacturing COE Analytics Systems Specialist

Responsible to work across multiple facilities and organizations to develop an advanced analytic strategy for the Global Rolled Products business unit. This strategy is part of the Smart Manufacturing initiative which includes making data available to end users with a digital thread, providing tools to visualize (R- shiny dashboards), explore and understand process variation using univariate and multivariate statistical methods, and experimental design. Data sources included OSI Pi historian, SQL and Oracle databases, BI Data Warehouse, MES, LIMS, ERP. Also supported root cause analysis efforts for product nonconformances, characterization and anomaly detection.

Hospira, a Pfizer Company | Aug 2014 - Oct 2016

MS&T Statistical Quality Engineer

One of three technical experts (Statistics, Chemistry and Engineering) assigned to the Manufacturing Science & Technology team. This team provides technical support across the organization to quickly solve manufacturing or regulatory problems. My responsibilities include sampling, process improvements and qualifications, data retrieval, product acceptance, upstream control of critical process parameters, and supporting root cause analysis efforts for product nonconformances and anomaly detection.

BWX Technologies, Inc. | Aug 2008 - Aug 2014

Principal Statistician

As a Principal Quality Statistician, I collaborated and provided technical resources and solutions to management, scientists, design agencies, engineering, supplier quality, project management and machinists. I co- developed root cause analysis training and facilitated problem solving and process improvement teams. Accomplishments include reducing process variation in CNC machining and CMM inspection by 40% resulting in a cost avoidance in inspection ($1.8M annually). Developed and deployed a quality database (InfinityQS) to automate data collection, SPC and reporting real-time feedback. Supported root cause analysis efforts for product nonconformances, anomaly detection and measurement system analyses. Developed supplier quality requirements in the form of inspection and control plans.

Hallmark Cards | Aug 2007 - Aug 2008

Consumer Research Analyst

As a market research analyst, I supported marketing initiatives by designing 1-to-1 postal and email campaign tests (using Teradata CRM and SAS programming) to understand consumer behavior. Post campaign activities provided consumer insights from the marketing campaign, data mining, segmentation and ad-hoc analysis. The insights were summarized and presented to senior management.

BWX Technologies, Inc. | Jan 1997 - Aug 2006

Manager of Statistics & Software Quality

I was at the Naval Nuclear Fuels Division for over 9 years with increased responsibilities including 4 years as a Statistician, 1 year as a Manufacturing Engineer (charter member of the corporate OPEX initiative) and 4 1/2 years as the Manager for Statistics & Software QA. I lead and participated in technical investigations of product quality and effectively collaborated with internal departments and customers to reach consensus on solutions. The core team provided statistical support (measurement system qualifications, sampling, SPC, product characterization, problem resolution), data retrieval/reporting (SAS), training (SPC, statistical methods, SAS) and Software QA across the division. Projects completed include deploying a formal statistical analysis and reporting process for product certification (reduced certification cycle time reduction by 35%) and replacing an inefficient lot disposition system with an integrated system of SAS programs controlled by a graphical user interface (GUI). The system also incorporated lessons learned and ad-hoc analysis capability (reduced cycle time by 50%).

Lockheed Martin | May 1993 - Jan 1997

Sr Quality Assurance Specialist

I spent 4 years in the Load, Assembly and Packing operations of Army ordnance. For the first 2 years, my responsibilities included the administration of a supplier quality assurance program, that included auditing (MIL-Q-9858, MIL-I-45208A, MIL-STD-45662), acceptance inspection equipment and control plan approval, sampling (MIL-STD-105E), lot acceptance by SPC, and receipt inspection. During the last 2 years, I had responsibilities for 5-12 QC inspectors that performed inspection and product certification. I also provided quality engineering and statistical support and training to all departments. I was a Quality Systems steering team member that successfully rolled out an ISO-9002 program. During my tenure with Lockheed-Martin, I was certified as a Quality Engineer (CQE).
