Smith College | Sep 2015 - May 2016

Post-Baccalaureate Student in Mathematics and Statistics

Through a full-tuition waiver and living stipend granted by Smith College and the National Science Foundation, I completed a year of undergraduate mathematics courses in order to apply for and pursue a graduate degree in either Mathematics or Statistics. As a full-time student in the program, I took advanced undergraduate coursework, conducted research in a faculty- supervised small group, and received guidance on my applications to graduate programs. In addition, we participated in a discussion course about all things mathematics – graduate school, careers, and various academic topics of interest. Prior to each discussion, we listened to a featured speaker at our Thursday Lunch Talks, who we then interviewed during the dialogues course. The research groups in the fall semester culminated when we presented our findings at the 2016 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, WA. My personal interest is in statistics. I planned to enter a graduate statistics program in the fall of 2016. Spring 2016 Coursework: - MTH/SDS 291: Multiple Regression - SDS 293: Machine Learning - MTH 400: Special Studies (in Mathematical Statistics) - MTH 300: Dialogues in Mathematics - MTH 301: Research in Mathematics or Statistics Fall 2015 Coursework: - MTH 246: Probability - MTH 281: Introduction to Real Analysis - MTH 290: Research Design and Analysis (Statistics) - MTH 300: Dialogues in Mathematics - MTH 301: Research in Mathematics or Statistics I was also Statistics TA (Tutor) for the Statistical and Data Sciences Department at Smith College.

Hired, scheduled, and trained all student staff at the speaker-dining club at Claremont McKenna College. I scheduled staff for each regular lunch, tea, and dinner shift and any special events. I also had to authorize that students' timesheets were complete before processing them to Payroll.
