My Work Experience

Stay-at-Home Parent

In 2016, following the birth of our second child, my spouse and I decided that my stepping away from the hectic nature of Crime Scene Investigation would be the best option for our family. During my hiatus from paid work, I remained active in my community by volunteering, coaching, and becoming a supervisor of polling places on election day. I also completed LaunchCode 101, a coding and web design course that includes several units on database management and SQL. Currently, I am expanding my SQL and data analysis skillset with datacamp. Both kids are in school now and I have been preparing for a career change. I prefer to remain in the scientific community in a field that contributes to the betterment of my community and of society in general.

Crime Scene Analyst

increasingly challenging and advanced certifications four times throughout my career. I am dedicated to personal and professional growth, accumulating over 1000 hours of training in forensic and leadership disciplines. Strictly speaking, a crime scene investigator documents crime scenes, processes and collects evidence. This requires that I have a strong work ethic and organizational skills, as well as an excellent ability to analyze complex situations. As a member of an accredited laboratory, I was required to know and follow a set of international standards for testing laboratories. As such, I am able to assess documents, procedures, practices, reports and other situations for compliance with strict QA standards. I have excellent oral and written communication skills. My written crime scene reports were very thorough and error-free, as they were used in criminal court proceedings. In addition, I have testified in criminal court dozens of times, demonstrating my ability to be professional, clear, and concise, even in very stressful situations. I routinely go above and beyond what is required. I received training in, and served as a QA auditor; I developed and instructed numerous training courses; I trained new employees (a two-year process); I volunteered to assist with laboratory operations requirements and equipment validation; and I served as a case manager, acting as a liaison between lab staff, outside agencies, and prosecuting attorneys to bring cases to trial. In addition, I took the initiative to train myself in advanced photography methods and became a certified Forensic Photographer. I used this expertise to purchase equipment and train other lab staff.
