My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd | Jun 2021 - Present

Research Analyst

This role involves the management and statistical analysis of an action fraud database as part of a wider project with the West Midlands Police. As the lead data analyst, it was vital that I understood the aims of the project and responded to the lead researchers requests in a timely manner, outlining the feasible routes of analysis with the data acquired. I delivered the first section of the analysis on short deadlines by prioritising specific tasks and working backwards from the deadline so that the team could receive feedback from colleagues in the West Midlands Police Department. I produced an analytical framework by critically evaluating and identifying key areas of data which enabled the project to build recommendations for future practice and research. Given that my primary area of substantive research is not related to fraud, I collaborated with various colleagues and stakeholders to develop both my substantive knowledge and my statistical expertise to communicate about the analysis of the data. These sessions, as well as reflecting on insights from other team members and adapting my working style we managed to deliver the project on time.

Research Assistant

My role involves analysing survey data quantitatively and qualitatively for an externally funded UKRI research grant awarded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. The study aims to explore the habits and opinions of news audiences in the UK in order to understand how they navigate flows of information and mis/ disinformation and the role that television news, and in particular public service broadcasters, play in this context.
