Industrial Placement Student

The first 6 months of my placement I was working mostly alone with the occasional help of my manager and peers to produce demonstration software in order to showcase new a HUD (Head-up display) product. I later adapted this software to make it suitable for use on HMDs (Helmet-mounted displays). For the second half of my placement, I was moved to a large team performing design and verification on primary flight controls in coordination with other large companies. This involved using model-based design to update models according to specification changes or test findings, writing unit tests for models aiming to achieve modified condition/decision coverage (MC/DC), performing integration testing by writing python scripts and running them on bespoke hardware to assess the models in the context of the wider system. I also completed a task for a legacy project team, using Simulink to convert old Ada code into Simulink blocks to be used as part of a more modern approach to verification.
