Financial Analyst / Management Accountant

Heartwood is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Handelsbanken Group and is responsible for all wealth and investment management activities of the Group in the UK. When I first joined Heartwood it was privately owned but the company was subsequently acquired by Handelsbanken in 2013. During this employment my responsibilities have included: Providing financial analysis and insight for the CEO, including monthly one-to- one meetings and a performance dashboard Assisting the Head of Finance with updating of the ICAAP model and aspects of the business planning process Preparation of the monthly and quarterly management information (MI) reporting, with submissions both to local senior management, the UK Head Office and Group in Sweden Provision of monthly MI reporting packs to the Management Group and various Sales Channel Management Teams Acting as Finance Business Partner for the Handelsbanken Wealth Management and Professional Intermediary sales teams Calculation, analysis and presentation of key company metrics such as the AUMA (Assets under Management & Administration), new business flows, client numbers, revenue growth, cost control, the business development profit sharing model, internal team P & Ls and regulatory KPIs Working on and providing statistics for use in communications, presentations, press releases, proposals and questionnaires Taking a prominent role in recruiting and then actively providing mentorship, training and support for the Assistant Management Accountant Monitoring and investigation of data integrity and quality Review of control framework and ongoing procedure updates Providing financial support to wider business projects

Management Accountant

I originally joined the company as an assistant to the Management Accountant but in March 2008 I became the senior Management Accountant in the office. During this employment my responsibilities included: Preparation of the monthly gross sales, net sales and contribution analysis reports by region, division & customer. Compare the actual to budget and highlight trends & variances. Also, report back on direct production and material cost recoveries for the month. Computation of investment appraisals on various potential capital projects via the calculation of an IRR and payback periods. Maintenance of the company Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis including the administration of additions & disposals to the asset list, calculation of depreciation charges and the monitoring of capital expenditure. Preparation of annual budgets & forecasts for the Manufacturing, Logistics and Development divisions with input from heads of department. This additionally requires the completion of headcount reports, KPI targets and analysis of variances & trends. Also, a detailed forecast and budget of capital expenditure is performed. Handling bespoke requests for analysis from Directors, budget holders and departmental managers such as in-depth analysis on specific accounting issues or calculating estimated standard costs for newly developed products. The review & maintenance of inventory valuations, the checking of inventory internal controls to ensure effectiveness and assistance with stock checks. Be responsible for auditing the Marley Plumbing & Drainage Social Club accounts. Also, in 2009, I was appointed to the role of Finance Implementation Team Leader within the business project responsible for successfully developing and installing Microsoft Dynamics AX as the new company operating system.

Assistant Management Accountant

During this employment my responsibilities included: Preparation of annual budgets & forecasts for the Manufacturing, Logistics and Development divisions with input from heads of department. This additionally requires the completion of headcount reports, KPI targets and analysis of variances & trends. Also, a detailed forecast and budget of capital expenditure is performed. The review, management and maintenance of accurate standard costing for all products via the completion of an activity based costing method and monthly adjustments to take account of updated production routings, bill of material listings and raw material prices. Also, be responsible for the accurate creation and maintenance of product data on the main accounting system. The management, review and deliverance of accurate accounting information for the monthly Profit & Loss. Perform analysis of actual spends, key variances to budget and over or under recoveries within important cost types such as COGS, Production Fixed, Transport, Distribution, Warehousing and R & D. Post all journals & accruals for the cost centres within the Manufacturing, Logistics & Development divisions. Also, produce and review the monthly cost reports for each department and hold monthly meetings with budget holders to review results & trends and agree corrective actions. The review & maintenance of inventory valuations, the checking of inventory internal controls to ensure effectiveness and assistance with stock checks. Handling bespoke requests for analysis from Directors, budget holders and departmental managers such as in-depth analysis on specific accounting issues or calculating estimated standard costs for newly developed products.
