Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra

Graduation Project

FOTA with V2V Updates for STM32: The purpose of this project, undertaken at Benha University, Shoubra Faculty of Engineering, Computer Department, under the supervision of Dr. May Salama, is to design and implement a secure Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) system with Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) updates. This project aims to develop an efficient solution utilizing STM32 microcontrollers, ESP-NOW protocol for communication, and advanced AES encryption and OTP for security. The project's significance lies in enhancing the reliability and security of automotive software updates. Expected outcomes include improved vehicle communication protocols and a fully functional PCB design using Altium. My primary responsibility was developing a bootloader capable of receiving firmware updates over-the-air (OTA) from an ESP microcontroller and designing a PCB for the project. https://github.com/mazen-khaled/FOTA-With-V2V

Shoubra Racing Team

Embedded System Team Leader

As the Embedded Team Leader at Shoubra Racing Team, I focused on training new members in AVR programming and PCB design, ensuring they gained strong foundational skills in embedded systems. I also curated and provided open-source learning resources to support their growth, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment within the team. My role extended to guiding the team in developing autonomous Vehicle through EVER V Competition contributing to our success in achieving top rankings. I had the privilege of working alongside my Team on Our SRT Vehicle in EVER V Competition. Our Vehicle Contain two essential ECUs: 1) Battery ECU: Measures battery capacity, voltage drop, and discharging current. Transmits data to the Gate ECU via UART. 2) Gate ECU (Tiva C MCU): Measures vehicle speed, receives data from the Battery ECU, and Take Reading From all car switches. Displays data on the Nextion display using UART. I had the privilege of leading my team in the prestigious autonomous EVER V Competition, which included both simulation and real-world demonstrations. Our efforts in the simulation competition earned us the 1st place in technical performance and 3rd place overall. In the real demo, we secured an impressive 2nd place overall. Development Stack: − YOLO V7 For object detection using Depth camera and monochrome camera. − Pursuit closed-loop algorithm for autonomous navigation. − Lidar for Adaptive cruise control. − ROS 1 for developing and integration between multiple sensors. Testing and Training: CoppeliaSim for simulation and Real time demo golf car. Operating System: The system runs on Ubuntu OS.
