As part of a 4 person startup, developed fermentation processes for the scale up of yeast cultures producing prebiotic human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) • Troubleshot pre-existing contamination issues to develop a protocol for reliable bioreactor runs • Improved product titer by 23% by implementing a fed batch process in shake flasks and fermenters • Implemented a robust HPLC analytical process to improve the quantification of metabolites of interest • Identified equipment needs and interfaced with local vendors to acquire necessary supplies (such as bioreactors/probes)
