Data & Analytics Intern

The internship offered hands-on exposure to cleaning and transforming large datasets using SQL and Python (Pandas) as part of an internal analytics initiative for a telecom client. Tasks included addressing data quality issues such as timestamp mismatches, duplicate records, and inconsistent labels across 500,000+ support entries to ensure accurate input for Power BI reporting. Emphasis was placed on automation through the creation of Python scripts to refresh data pipelines, resulting in a 65% reduction in manual reporting time. Involvement in KPI development, such as escalation ratios and resolution time metrics, provided insight into aligning data insights with operational goals. Team collaboration included validation of logic and metrics with data engineers and analysts, supporting an agile, delivery-focused work environment. Additionally, access to Cognizant’s internal learning portals and data-specific content, including sessions on ETL pipelines, SQL optimization, and reporting automation, complements project work with real-time learning.
