Data Scientist

Being part of an AI startup, I had the opportunity to develop a broad skill set, ranging from the Data Science field to purely Software Engineering skills. Because of my involvement in a 1.5-year-long project for a High-Frequency Trading firm international client, I specialized in the Financial Machine Learning domain. During this project, I gained a solid understanding of the internal mechanics of the Financial Markets and developed various Machine / Deep Learning models to support trading activity. Responsibilities: Conduct Statistical analysis in trading data. Communicate actionable insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Propose novel representations and design new targets, valuable to train ML/ DL models. Extract, Clean, Aggregate data, and design Features based on High- Frequency datasets (Limit Order Book, Trades, Events tick data, etc.) Training and evaluate end-to-end ML/DL pipelines using both on-premise machines and cloud technologies. Deploy trained ML/DL models in low-latency environments (C++) while ensuring the scalability and robustness of the solution. Utilize MLOps principles to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented ML code. Develop processes and tools (Dashboards, Reports, KPIs) to monitor and analyze models' performance in production. Collaborate with team members and various stakeholders (quantitative researchers, developers, traders) to achieve daily goals and deliver on time. My technology stack included Python/R and heavy use of Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras, Tidyverse, Tidymodels libraries. Moreover, #I contributed to Open Source projects. (Time-series segmentation and Changepoint detection app written in R/Shiny: https://bit.ly/3t0OV4N) #I engaged in internal R&D activities as needed and developed PoC applications for prospecting clients. #I gave internal and external talks about Data Science topics. Junior Data Scientist

During six months, I worked towards developing and deploying an end-to- end real-world Machine Learning system. The project's goal was to create a custom "Fraud Detection" system for an online sports betting company. • Along with my team, I was responsible for developing, testing, and deploying the Machine Learning part of the application. • I use the R programming language for Data cleaning and exploration, Statistical analysis, and Model Building. The main packages I used were the tidyverse bundle of packages (readr, dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2, dbplyr, etc.) and the caret machine learning framework. Alongside, I used many packages for specific statistical methods and other data mining techniques. • I used SQL over PostgreSQL databases to extract data from various relational Databases. • I used simple Linux commands and Bash to set up the development environment and automate various processes on a Linux on-premise machine.
