My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Stony Brook University Graduate School | Aug 2017 - Jan 2018

Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant

Research and teaching position in molecular genetics and bioinformatics

Kansas State University | Sep 2013 - May 2017

Research Assistant and Bioinformatician

I was supported as a student at KSU on the basis of my research. I worked in several different laboratories during my time at KSU due to performing cell Movement During Biotrophic Invasion Of Rice lab rotations prior to choosing a home laboratory, and to the collaborative nature of the department. I was responsible for performing original research under the direct guidance of the laboratory principle investigator. I became experienced and proficient with all basic molecular biology methodologies and their application to diverse research questions, including extensively with fluorescent live cell microscopy. For computational biology, I was required to learn to program in bash, perl, and R, and to use the local massively parallel computing cluster Beocat to run resource intensive jobs using their job queuing system. I performed extensive assemblies of NGS data types including classic short-read technologies as well novel long read technologies.
