Humbling, definitely. No matter how much research you put into figuring out what to do and how to accompany this new human you’re creating, you’re just never fully ready. You have to accept it and learn as you go. Rewarding, absolutely. Aside from all the “firsts” you get to witness, the adorable smiles and the heartful laughs, the number of personal skills you develop in parallel enables you to take on anything: Organization: - Set priorities and objectives to maximize productivity - Maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle Adaptability: - Be proactive and available for any unforeseen events - Accept possible interruptions and know how to get back on track - Establish a pedagogy constantly altered to the child’s growth and needs Communication : - Find creative ways to negotiate and make learning fun - Captivate and retain attention through effective storytelling Problem-solving and Analysis: - Learn through trial and error - Decrypt the messages conveyed through verbal and non-verbal ways - Manage finances efficiently Attention to detail : - Stay vigilant and observe keenly to ensure the family’s safety - Anticipate as much as possible to make sure the day-to-day runs smoothly Responsibility : - Trust the child has all the tools needed to succeed - Give him space to grow and learn on his own - Instill discipline and accountability through adapted task assignments
