Data Analyst/Scientist

Data analyst/scientist currently leading a data quality audit on newly acquired software and formerly formed part of a data migration project from an old legacy system to a new system all for a large-scale mining client. The role was to fulfil the entire ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) process from multiple data sources into one consolidated target system. Tasks in more detail involve: • Interacting with the client and providing input to decide on metrics and rules to monitor their system. Applying the rules in the form on SQL stored procedures to constantly monitor the quality of data and visualizing the results in the form of a Power Bi report. • Creating stored procedures within Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to extract, transfer and transform data into the correct format to be loaded. The stored procedures were executed with the creation of pipelines within Microsoft Azure Data Factory. • Utilizing python to transform data received in Excel format to be loaded into the new system. • Part of a multiple disciplinary team from the client and vendor, across multiple time zones to timeously meet project deadlines and the clients’ expectations. • Data base design for the purpose of reporting in Microsoft Power BI • Transform data using Python to be used for visualizations in Microsoft Excel and Power BI
