Sr. Data Scientist at Optum (Commercial Data Science team, Payment Integrity Decision Intelligence)

• Leader on the team with key experience and knowledge to manage various ideation, modeling, and analysis projects mostly in support of the team’s flagship commercial product which produces over $126M in annual revenue • Implementing a streamlined end-to-end process for new client implementations, automating EDA, creating detailed workflow documentation, debugging inherited code bases, and shortening development timeline • Improving client relations and reducing provider abrasion • Innovating over an existing, in-production Classifier, improving labels, incorporating savings thresholds, leading to a lift in both precision and attributed savings • Bayesian Modeling with PyMC3 to engineer a more probabilistic model feature using Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling, and demonstrating increased performance, improved generalization, and more explainable results • Developing and engineering a data-driven approach to monitoring the stages of batch processing, enhancing understanding of causes for variance in attributed savings, and enabling more accurate performance metrics • Collaborating with a prominent genetics lab client, exploring use of Genetic Testing Registry (GTR) IDs to identify unique genetic tests (incl. target genes), methodology, and condition and identifying over $6M (>25% of annual spend) in estimated annual savings, and over $100M if extrapolated to all client- contracted labs • Mentoring and helping to train two new data scientists in new client product implementation • Presenting to department on topics of Trust and Compassion as a UHG Culture Ambassador
