Neurophysiologist

Neuro-Bio Ltd. focuses on exploring novel therapeutic approaches based on cholinergic involvement in the initiation and progression of Alzheimer's disease. My work consisted in analysing the neurophysiological effects of acetylcholinesterase-derived peptides on cortical activity by combining data from simultaneous voltage-sensitive dye imaging and electrophysiology recordings. These proteins have been involved in the neurodegeneration seen in Alzheimer's disease. The objective of these studies was to provide tangible indications as to the pharmacodynamics of NBP-14, a test treatment lead molecule, on transient mesoscopic neuronal activity for its ability to counter the actions of harmful acetylcholinesterase-derived peptides. Co-authored several publications in several high-impact factor scientific journals providing yet more comprehensive observations of a yet little-known degenerative mechanism; i.e. that of the impact of acetylcholinesterase- derived peptides in the pathophysiology of neurodegeneration.
