Joined the newly formed Business Intelligence Unit to help the Financial Intelligence Unit improve the monitoring and methods used to identify risk and control gaps. I work consistently with key stakeholders to build flags within the data to help find specific behaviors and trends within our data. - Built an end to end procedural document for the team's data exploration process. This helped to standardize practices and improve the collaborative nature of our work. - Identified emerging risk trends within the elder exploitation space and built a SQL query to identify 5 at-risk accounts. - Built a SQL query to identify anomalous peer to peer transaction data that identified 144 at risk accounts for review over 3 iterations. - Extracted and manipulated transaction data based off of a known typology for pass-through accounts and identified 42 at-risk accounts that were sent for further review. - Analyzed accounts for known elder abuse fraud typologies to better understand the nature of these trends on the clients of the bank. - Built reports based on the Numbered Canada account population to help key stakeholders to better understand the risky nature of this client base. - Collected FinCEN SAR data and used Excel Pivot Tables and Charts to explore emerging national and local Financial Institution SAR filing trends.
