Risk and Quantitative Analysis Summer Intern

I was a team leader for my Portfolio Innovation Challenge Team. During this competition, groups of interns choose a model client, develop a profile for them, and generate a model portfolio as well as a distribution strategy for that portfolio. Our team developed a solution for near retirees which consisted of assets that we felt protected them from some current macro themes such as rising interest rates and the risk of an economic slowdown/recession. During the process, I engaged in the portfolio construction process, evaluated the risk and other metrics of the portfolio using BlackRock's wealth of Aladdin tools, and presented alongside my team to the rest of the firm. Happy to say that our team won 2nd place out of all the 30 groups that we created!

I worked at Praxair under the Global Supply Systems Division in Tonawanda, NY. During my time there, I looked at optimizing the conditions around the transfer of liquid Argon between two large tanks. I also worked on developing a way to systematically size the cooling towers needed at a plant.

At Khan's Tutorial, it was my responsibility to prepare my sixth and seventh graders in the math and critical reading necessary for success on the Common Core examinations. I also introduced the seventh graders to the topics on the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) so that they can score high. I was also responsible for two high school students that needed preparation for the New York State Regents in Geometry and Algebra I. I created the lesson plan for them as well as the homework assignments that were to be graded.
