Prepare client samples for mass spectrometry analysis at a dedicated proteomics research facility • Prepare core samples for identification and quantitation using SDS-PAGE and in-gel, in-solution, and on-bead digestion techniques as well as Tandem Mass Tagging (TMT) and label-free phosphoproteomics • Perform data analysis using Mascot and Scaffold software and interpret data to customers • Assist with maintenance of the core’s orbitrap LC-MS systems by preparing and changing columns and solvents and by monitoring quality control standards • Develop core standard operating protocols and update current protocols to improve quality and validity of results • Train and direct other lab technicians in research techniques and procedures • Ensure lab compliance with safety regulations • Maintain chemical inventory for the lab, prepare stock solutions, and place lab supply orders • Operate basic laboratory equipment such as pipettors, centrifuges, and balances • Keep meticulous records of client samples, multi-task, and coordinate with other core staff
