AgileVentures is a UK based charity that helps groups of developers form teams to work on IT projects for other charities and non-profits. The philosophy is to provide professional development opportunities for software engineers wanting to level up their technical and team skills in the context of real-world projects with real users; while also providing a useful service to deserving causes. As well as working to promote AgileVentures around the world, I serve as project and scrum manager for several of the projects including LocalSupport, WebSiteOne, ProjectScope and Autograders, which are all Ruby and Rails related projects. Each day I work with other OS developers reviewing pull request, pair programming remotely and keeping the sites running and the charity clients in the loop.

Managed small research team developing mobile agents with adaptive learning abilities that formed the basis for an agent-based distributed search engine. Integration of learning ability into intelligent mobile agents (requires integration of RMI, networking skills, mobile agents, distributed databases, XML and Swing). Programming with threads, and Swing (GUI support), RMI, XML, Mobile Agent packages and communication languages (Plangent, Beegent, KQML, FIPA ACL), setting up and constructing small computer networks using mobile hubs and Microsoft Network facilities. Also worked with DDBMS (distributed database management system).
