GKN Aerospace | Jun 2022 - Present

Research Engineer/Specialist

As a research engineer at GKN Aerospace, I am responsible for driving innovation and developing new technologies for ice protection in aerospace. This involves conducting extensive research and data analysis to identify the most effective solutions, optimize processes, and collaborate with cross- functional teams to design and implement these solutions into our products. In addition to my research responsibilities, I also lead the design of products that incorporate existing ice-protection systems and ensure they comply with industry standards such as DO-160G and MIL-STD-810. This involves working closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. As part of my responsibilities, within my group, I have taken ownership of conducting structural integrity, composite layup, and impact analyses, including bird-strike simulations. Furthermore, I am overseeing activities of our low-observability project, where we are leveraging the latest technologies and design principles to reduce the radar signature of our products. This project represents an exciting opportunity to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible in aerospace engineering, by considering novel materials and configurations. Overall, my role as a research engineer at GKN Aerospace involves a diverse range of responsibilities, from driving innovation and designing new technologies to ensuring compliance with industry standards and overseeing critical analyses. I am proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in aerospace engineering and delivering world-class products to our customers.

Candidate - PhD Degree in Mechanics of Materials

various roles, including but not limited to Stress Engineer/Analyst or Simulation & Modelling Engineer. During this degree tenure, I carried out detailed research on the ballistic response of thin monolithic and laminate targets. I learned to implement multiple analytical and numerical approaches to terminal ballistics and constitutive modelling of dynamic material behaviour. Initiated quasi-static and dynamic material testing, gas-gun ballistic experiments, and Finite Element Analyses (FEA) on metallic, polymeric, and fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) materials and impact cases. I executed similitude and statistical analyses on asymmetric impact cases, introducing a heuristic approach to improve the prediction of ballistic limit for thin components. Following are some key projects during the course of my studies: • Successfully completed a thesis titled 'Dynamic Response of Thin Targets under Ballistic Impact' • Received Second Year Ph.D. Award with six Publications. • Developed and leveraged custom algorithms in Python and MATLAB for performing optimisation-driven, inverse material model development and calibration with LS-DYNA and ABAQUS. • Conceptualised and designed newly-developed visco-plastic material model for polyurea elastomer.

Intermediate Pipeline Engineer

It was another good opportunity for me to develop inclusive field insights. Here I was accountable for liaising with a team of engineers to solve challenges in the Keystone XL project. I conducted a FEA-based evaluation of the dynamic response of pipeline and piping systems; reviewed site-specific drawings of open-cut trenching, bore-crossings, valve stations, and pump stations. Here are some selected contributions from this position: • Increased 40% accuracy in the technical drawing review process by controlling the movement of pdf files between different stages of the drawing review process using Excel VBA. • Executed comprehensive stress analyses in ANSYS to determine design feasibility during pipe-soil interaction triggered by fault movement. • Monitored pipeline tendency for ovalization and wrinkling in fault movement and installation in waterbody crossings. • Carried out slope stability analysis by considering varied failure criteria such as Extended Drucker-Prager, Mohr-Coulomb, and Cam-clay.

exp Global Inc. | Apr 2014 - Apr 2017

Mechanical Project Engineer

While acting as a Mechanical Project Engineer, my primary tasks and key contributions were: • Delivering strategic direction in high-profile project to design, analyse, and restructure optimal pipeline routes while meeting demanding budgets, objectives, and deadlines. • Adhering to strict quality, health, and safety standards as well as regulatory guidelines. • Creating an algorithm in MATLAB for calculating potential leakage in specific sections. • Executing in-depth dynamic stress analysis of bore, railway, and road crossings via CAESAR II and ANSYS. • Overseeing development and amelioration of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) routes. • Deploying analytical and numerical methods in support of fatigue analysis and design of welded connections.
