Science to Data Science (S2DS) | Mar 2022 - Apr 2022

Data Science Fellow

- Worked with real-world financial data to predict the effectiveness and strategise the success of debt interventions in social housing using multivariate and hierarchical time series models - Adapted machine learning methods to best detect causal inferences - Translated business needs into planned agile sprint to deliver a rapid prototype - Devised and proposed to internal and external stakeholders a metric that drastically improved our classifications from an F1 score of 0.59 to 0.73

Kyushu University | Apr 2017 - Present

Assistant Professor

DEVELOPMENT OF ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR COMPUTER VISION - Formulated and oversaw the execution of research proposals utilising data science tools that have successfully secured over ¥14 million of investment - Provided authoritative technical input and directions to strategic decisions made by junior team members - Translated technical data into findings and recommendations from ML analysis at major international conferences MAPPING THE BRAIN'S CONNECTIVITY - Was an integral part of the observational study team to help create standard methodologies to classify data - Experienced in sophisticated data visualisation and visual analytics (e.g. tSNE and UMAP) of structured (>2 million points) and unstructured (>100GB) biological datasets and images - Designed a novel patent-pending, unsupervised clustering algorithm to provide novel scientific insights. - Built a scalable machine learning pipeline to clean data, engineer key features, and optimise data set performance, reducing the man-hours from the thousands to the tens. MACHINE LEARNING SOLUTIONS TO CORRECT FOR CHROMATIC ABERRATION IN 3D IMAGES - Integrated and maintained other research labs’ access to my ML tool to correct chromatic aberration - Supervise Python and Java implementations FACULTY ROLES - Mentored research students (data analysts) to analyse findings critically - Provided training on coding and statistical analyses - Designed and delivered quality undergraduate and graduate workshops teaching materials and lectures
