Teaching how to read and interpret complex electrical and control system schematics, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications, mechanical drawings, operating manuals, or special facility procedures to be followed during emergencies, equipment failures, or system malfunctions. Ensuring each student upon graduation of the curriculum possesses knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test instruments common to trades. Familiarity of direct digital control (DDC), pneumatic, electronic and electro/mechanical control systems programming/calibrating, architecture, sensory inputs, controllers and controlled devices. They also are expected to have knowledge of security, safety practices procedures, technical procedures, regulations, policies, and guides. Providing each student during pre-exquisite modules introduction to electricity and automatic controls. Content includes; electrical components, household wiring, wire sizing, series and parallel circuits. Included in this course is hands-on experience with electrical tools and meters. On the controls side the course is designed to develop familiarity with electrical current and an understanding of electrical current flow and its effects as it interacts with various components of a circuit. Teaching courses that cover the principles of residential air conditioning systems. Content includes evaluation and hands-on classroom experience in use of psychometrics, residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment type and installation. In the course the students will be introduced to the heat pump application and its components. Lab are focused on systems operation, and performance malfunctions.
