My Work Experience

Where I've interned and worked during my career.

Loam Media, Inc. | Jan 2024 - Present

Strategist - Data Science & Development

Machine Learning: I developed machine learning models that assign a risk level to our donors, highlighting donors who are most likely to decrease their support during the next calendar year. These donors are then strategically engaged by our donor relations team to preemptively curb donation dips. Natural Language Processing: I developed an AI system that analyzes all our donor and listener interactions with our Listener Services Team (LST), highlighting key trends, common phrases, and overall sentiment of the interactions. Exploratory Analysis: Digging into our marketing and print data, I found ways to save a net $120,000 in yearly print costs by refining our print engagement strategy and audience segmentation. Data Visualization: I visualize key metrics senior leaders want to track or explore. Data Cleaning: I designed systems that catch data quality issues within our CRM, fixing mistakes where possible, and flagging more complex situations for human review.

Meitzler Building Group | Jan 2023 - Jan 2023

Data Scientist - Research & Development

Meitzler Building Group contracted me to design and develop a device that uploads sensor data real-time to the cloud, processes and visualizes it, then sends text alerts when certain thresholds are crossed. Electrical Component Evaluation: I performed extensive cost-benefit analysis of various sensor technologies, weighing their data resolution and accuracy against cost to select the most suitable option for commercialization. Back-End Development: I used C++ to handle the device’s back-end operations, programming all the logic for real-time data collection and processing. Data Ingestion and Processing: I built custom ETL pipelines using Python to ingest, clean, and process the sensor data through Google Cloud. I then integrated Twilio for automated text alerts. Testing and Validation: I conducted benchmark testing to validate the accuracy and reliability of the sensor data, comparing it against external analog systems.

Accelarise | Jan 2022 - Jan 2023

Scientific Research Analyst

I conducted in-depth research on scientific topics ranging from quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and applied physics to biology, cosmology, and robotics, creating engaging, scientifically accurate content for Accelarise Media.

Templeton Academy | Jan 2020 - Jan 2021

Data Science Instructor

Science, Data Science. Students learned Python, data structures, data visualization, and natural language processing, culminating in a final project analyzing data from Kaggle. Data Science Projects: I helped our students find passion projects in data science and AI.

Bridgestone Americas | Jan 2018 - Jan 2020

Senior Data Scientist - Commercial Solutions

I worked as a Senior Data Scientist for Bridgestone's Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) Team. We developed, tested, and launched fleet management technology in the trucking, mining, and bus markets. Real-time Analytics: I led the development, testing, and launch of real-time analytics for the IntelliTire system, providing actionable insights for commercial trucking, mining, and busing industries. I worked closely with engineers and industry experts to tailor analytics, algorithms, and reporting to their operational needs. Event Detection Patent: I invented mathematical methods to detect slow leak events in commercial tires and intelligently interpolate incomplete or missing data. My research was patented by Bridgestone Americas (International Publication Number: WO 2022/155009 A1). Data Mining Research: I managed ad-hoc data mining projects, performing sensor data experiments to uncover actionable insights, which informed future product development and feature enhancements. PowerBI Dashboards: I developed and maintained PowerBI dashboards used by our team to monitor test launches, sensor statuses, and algorithmic performance, providing real-time visibility into critical metrics. Global Collaboration: I collaborated with global business and analytics experts, serving as the America’s Regional Leader for Data Models within Bridgestone’s Global Solutions Steering Committee, steering the strategic direction of IntelliTire’s analytics initiatives. Research Management: I directed collaborations with startups and vendors, aligning external research efforts with Bridgestone's business priorities, ensuring alignment between research and commercial outcomes.

Bridgestone Americas | Jan 2017 - Jan 2018

Data Scientist

I worked as a Data Scientist for Bridgestone’s Commercial Emerging Technologies (CET) Team. Our group researched innovative tire-related technologies in the commercial trucking sector. Machine Learning Research: I led machine learning research in automated commercial tire side-wall data extraction and tread loss prediction. Statistical Research: I developed ad-hoc statistical research for engineers and CET directors, helping them understand the limitations and possibilities of various emerging technologies. Analytics Roadmap: I worked with the CET’s Director of Technology to develop and execute our technology and analytics roadmap.

Los Alamos National Laboratory | Jan 2017 - Jan 2017

Applied Machine Learning Research Internship

I worked with senior space and earth scientists researching deep learning applications for semi-supervised anomaly detection. Deep Learning Research: I conducted deep learning research focused on anomaly detection within seismic signals. We designed our model to detect low-signal earthquakes amidst noisy sensor environments. Our research resulted in an anomaly detection accuracy rate of 85% on test data sets. Signal Processing: I gained hands-on experience in signal processing methodologies, using Python, Spark, and Keras on the laboratory’s supercomputing infrastructure.

Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County | Jan 2016 - Jan 2017

Data Scientist - Internship

I worked as a Data Scientist in an internship overseen by Nashville’s Chief Data Officer, Dr. Robyn Mace. Data Visualization: I developed comprehensive data visualizations using Tableau and PowerBI, presenting these dashboards to ITS department heads. Statistical Analysis: I conducted in-depth statistical analysis on short-term rental properties using data from the Codes Department, presenting my findings to the executive leaders. Computer Vision Research: I completed computer vision research on videos of Nashville’s interstate traffic demonstrating real-time traffic flow analysis potential, which prompted further exploration by city leadership.
