AT&T Mobility | Jan 2011 - Feb 2025

Sr Radio Access Network Engineer

Member of the HQ Central RAN Design team, with focus on supporting market wide projects, initiatives and rollouts. • Involved in the review and approval of RF data sheets and design of proposed solutions. • Involved in the scoping reviews to determine design’s implementation feasibility. • Involved in the 5G mm-Wave small cell (39GHz) design. Tasks include initial cluster design and optimization, candidate selection, and then the final cluster design. • Collaborated with the optimization engineers to draw up the area’s plans. Solutions can vary from macro sites, small cells, split sectors, DAS systems, and other indoor solutions, or a mixture of these options. • Performed design analysis using tools like Forsk Atoll and MapInfo to compare the effects of different solutions, show progression of KPIs as solutions are implemented, and finally give recommendations to the team based on the analyzed data. • Led the market’s FirstNet design. • Led the market’s Fixed Wireless Local Loop design. • Involved with the launch of LTE service in the LA area. • Provided guidance to the LTE RF implementation team on design questions. • Reviewed and approved alternate site designs if original option was not implementable or not cost effective. • Reviewed and approved high-cost solutions; provided alternate options if required. • Coordinated with the LTE RF implementation team to make sure the deliverables are met. • Address issues that may affect LTE build-out, making sure the issues are resolved in a timely manner. This entails working with the construction and RF engineering teams. • Worked with the different teams like LTE design vendors, market engineering, and performance engineers to make sure that the design is the best implementable design. Directly interact with the LTE design vendor teams to make sure that the design is within the guidelines and provide coverage to the intended target areas.

Sr RF Engineer

Part of the team that was involved with the launch of UMTS service in the LA area. Activities included initial cluster optimization and market acceptance. • Engaged in the optimization of HSPA+, UMTS and GSM sites. Responsibilities included parameter optimization, feature trials, drive-testing, and recommending site enhancements to improve performance. • Monitored the performance of sites, BSCs and RNCs. Made sure problems were addressed quickly and network elements are alarm free. Activities included stats monitoring/trending, data collection/analysis, and working closely with switch and field operations to address network issues. • Improved site performance by using the different OSS tools available (CNA, CHA, MRR, and WNCS) and other software tools like MapInfo, Schema Mentor, Actix Analyzer, TEMS, OptPCS, and Aircom ASSET. • Worked with the RF Design Engineers to address weak coverage areas and identify site candidates, assist in the site design, and determine the new site configuration. • Worked on projects like in-building requests, E911 routing info coordination, PSAP test scheduling and market level frequency retunes. • Addressed customer complaints by using all the different tools and software available.

WFI | Feb 2000 - Jan 2005

RF Engineer

Worked on several projects for different Telecom carriers, managing different technologies and equipment vendors. The projects ranged from test-equipment support to network design, to the optimization of live networks. CINGULAR WIRELESS (ERICSSON-GSM), Irvine, CA RF Optimization Engineer Maintained and optimized the Long Beach area for Cingular’s L.A. market. • Performed optimization activities like stats monitoring, parameter audit and optimization, data collection and analysis, site modifications, and monitoring of BTS hardware performance. • Troubleshoot problem sectors using the different OSS tools available (CNA, CHA, MRR, NCS) and other software tools like MapInfo and TEMS. • Performed site audits to verify site build information. • Performed drive tests to determine site’s coverage and for troubleshooting. VERIZON WIRELESS (MOTOROLA-CDMA), Denver, CO RF Optimization Engineer Member of the team that performed optimization activities for Verizon’s CDMA network in Colorado, parts of Wyoming and New Mexico. • Performed functional testing of client’s 3G services as it is being rolled it out to the market. • Performed drive tests to determine site’s coverage and for troubleshooting. SPRINT PCS (CDMA), Overland Park, KS RF Support Group/Test Equipment Provided technical support to test engineering teams using the new 3G drive-test equipment and post-processing tools. These included first pass analysis and issue investigation that led to resolution and corrective actions. • Used software tools like Actix Analyzer, Grayson Interpreter, and Willtech IDA II to post-process, plot, and analyze 3G drive-test data. • Performed handset to drive-test equipment compatibility testing. LEAP WIRELESS (LUCENT-CDMA), Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, MI RF Design Engineer Part of the team that designed Leap Wireless’ CDMA network in certain Michigan markets. • Used Lucent CE4 to process and plot coverage maps for candidate approvals, zoning hearings and to analyze drive test data. • Performed Candidate Site evaluation and Approval. • Coordinated and conducted CW testing for candidate approvals and model tuning. METRICOM, Chicago, IL, and Cleveland, OH RF Design Engineer Part of the team that engaged in the design phase of Metricom’s wireless data network operating in the 2.4GHz band. • Used tools like Map Info and dB Planner to process and plot coverage maps for candidate approvals, zoning hearings and to analyze drive test data. • Performed Candidate Site evaluation and Approval. • Conducted drive test planning, and actual drive testing.
