High Performance Coordinator

As the High Performance Coordinator, I am responsible for connecting the top provincial athletes and coaches with programs, services, and systems aligned with Badminton BC's Podium Pathway. I collect, clean, and manage athlete data to measure performance trends from competition results. Drawing upon my distinct and comprehensive background as an athlete, coach, and administrator, I bring unique and invaluable insights to the committees I serve on. Highlights: - Led a school team project that established a price revenue optimization model to enhance tournament revenue for provincial tournaments. Following these recommendations, a recent tournament saw a 15% increase in revenue and a 25% reduction in administration time. - Developed a high-performance framework to guide future strategic planning in high performance. - Merged both provincial and national competition data to produce new rankings for Badminton BC awards, ensuring fairness and recognizing the top athletes. - Returned to Badminton BC to organize and manage team selection for Team BC at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, including setting selection criteria, conducting selection trials, choosing coaches, and organizing a training camp, leading to a team bronze finish at the Games.

National Team Athlete

As a National Team athlete for Badminton Canada, I represented our country in over 100 international tournaments across 30+ countries, culminating in my participation in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Competing mostly as a self-funded athlete, I navigated the complexities of international competition without the consistent presence of a coach, mastering self-management in travel, accommodations, and collaboration with fellow athletes. Despite these challenges, I achieved a career-high world ranking of 16 in mixed doubles—a rare feat in Canadian badminton. My journey through the Badminton World Federation (BWF) circuit from 2007 to 2018 not only showcases my commitment to the sport but also my deep understanding of the path to becoming an elite player in Pan America. I retired in August 2018, after a fulfilling career that included competing at World Championships in diverse locales such as India, France, England, Denmark, Indonesia, Scotland, and China; participating in the Commonwealth Games; and securing medals at the Pan American Games. Career Highlights: - Competed at the 2012 London Olympic Games - Achieved a highest world ranking of 16 - Secured 30+ international titles, including being a 7-time national champion - Won gold at the 2011 Pan Am Games and silver in 2015 - Became a 5-time Pan American champion and participated in 7 World Championships
