I built an analysis that reflected the client’s energy concerns and goals, focusing on the next steps, cost, and savings. • Used thermal imaging to identify water intrusion, air infiltration, and missing insulation areas. • Performed 40+ energy assessments of 10,000 to 100,000 sq. ft. buildings. • Developed process for ‘Poor Man’s CFD’ analysis of data centers. The easy-to-reach low-hanging fruit in the energy-efficient orchard is getting harder to find. My goal at Energility was to help our clients spot and reach the efficiency fruit in the higher branches, fruit that often provide larger energy benefits.

Energy Omelette LLC provided building performance modeling services for airflow and heat transfer analysis for natural convection & ventilation strategies. BOULDER: No pre-qualified utility consultants for airflow and exhaust rate analysis. IDEA: Offer service through third-party providers who are already vetted. IMPLEMENTATION: Started Energy Omelette LLC and established a relationship with ERI LLC. RESULTS: > Within 3 months of starting, negotiated contract for exhaust flow analysis project. > Used DesignBuilder energy modeling software to simulate mechanical systems for naturally-ventilated building. Preliminary findings identified potential hot spots, improving effectiveness of exhaust air system calibration. > Calculated heating loads using American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) design condition tables, and heat transfer equations. > Created energy-efficiency report, including incremental costs, and coordinated submittals to utility company incentive programs. ERI, LLC formed in response to PG&E RFP / RFQ for customer solution engineers. Principals, Eric Noller and Luke Werner, gathered fellow PG&E contract energy engineers to bid and win the multi-million dollar contract. As one the initial energy engineers, I worked with our clients (and their customers) to uncover efficiency opportunities, quantify the potential energy savings and connect these opportunities to utility rebate & incentive programs. > Identified over 2.1M kWh, 1,000 kW, and 18,000 in therm savings for committed or paid projects. > Developed relationships with customers through presentations and customer education events. 50% of new projects came directly from these relationships.

Commercial Energy Solutions Manager (Contract)

As a Commercial Customer Energy Solutions Manager, I worked with commercial customers, reviewing their energy efficiency projects to identify opportunities for efficiency savings, determining applicable PG&E incentive programs, and performing pre-approval savings calculations. I coordinated and lead project kickoff meetings with my customers, and I kept them and the PG&E account managers aware of project status from start to finish. Boulder: New construction incentive projects were delayed or misplaced. Idea: Keep project responsibility with Energy Solution Manager until documentation package was complete. Implementation: Educated client on program requirements, created document checklist and performed periodic customer status checks. Collected and reviewed documents as they were received for accuracy, completeness and adherence to program requirements. Results: > Improved selling confidence of new construction incentive programs by account managers. > Reduced number of incomplete projects. > Increased paid projects leading to increased kW, kWh and therm savings.
