Coach

Currently conducting research within CrossFit and it's potential applications within the field of physical fitness and activity for tactical athletes. Adapted exercise movements to increase participation and participant sustainment for older adults, and adults with disabilities and/or physical limitations following doctor and physical therapist recommendations. Taught, trained, researched, and tested skills and knowledge necessary to foster self-efficacy in complex exercise patterns to provide relative challenge to individuals and foster growth in motor skill competency related to physical activity. Partnered with various departments within the university to provide recommendations when client needs were outside of the scope of practice for physical activity training/coaching; such as nutrition and mental health. Used oral and written forms of communication to educate and coach points of performance necessary to complete workouts in a safe and effective manner to promote healthy changes. Used various coaching methods (tactile, verbal, visual) to ensure customers had the foundational skills necessary for program participation and scaffolded skills to learn and complete more advanced skills in a confidence manner. Encouraged cooperation and trust in the customer coach relationship so that members felt comfortable completing workouts.
