I worked in the Chiricahua mountain range, collecting data on plant regeneration following the Horseshoe Two fire, which burned over 90,000 ha in May of 2011. I was excited to be working alongside researchers, park employees, and peers on a project meant to understand the response of ecological communities to extreme events. Responsibilities: • Collection of vegetation inventory information and fuel loading data within our study area • Data collection on evapotranspiration and photosynthetic capacity of leafy vegetation • Large amounts of hiking and terrain navigation using maps, compasses, and GPS units
